ESPN.com rated all every teams 2025 Draft haul. For the Mets they say: "This draft wasn't heavy on players who are "famous" or highly ranked on media rankings, but there are some clear trends, such as projectable high schoolers with a standout ability or two, or even Antonio Jimenez (No. 102 overall), a college player who fits that idea with big power and a steady glove at shortstop but with questions about how much he'll hit."
Keith Law The Athletic NL East 2025 draft report cards: "Missouri prep righty Camden Lohman (8) is going to be an over-slot deal, but he could be the steal of the Mets’ draft. The Mizzou commit has a super-fast arm and a potentially plus curveball, getting on top of the ball really well from a high three-quarters slot. He wasn’t that heavily scouted coming into the year because he didn’t do many showcase events."
In Case You Missed It, Anthony DiComo has a great analysis of day two of the Mets 2025 Draft with information on all of the picks. Overall DiComo states: "It’s a give-and-take that Mets amateur scouts understand well. To that end, they spent the early part of Day 2 of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday accepting loads of additional risk in the form of two injured pitchers, two high school arms and a hard-throwing college reliever. There were no “safe” picks for New York at the top of Day 2; the club’s hope is that talent and upside will win out in the end."
MLB.com: Here are our favorite picks from the Draft -- one for each team. For the Mets it's "Peyton Prescott, RHP (fifth round) A Draft-eligible sophomore, Prescott moved
from Jacksonville to Florida State and struck out 46 in 36 2/3 innings out of
the Seminoles' bullpen. He showed a triple-digit heater and got whiffs on a
mid-80s slider, but he needed Tommy John surgery after injuring his elbow in
Super Regional play. The stuff is good though, and if he can get back to
showing it after rehabbing with the Mets, he has upside as a high-leverage
relief arm."
Mets Daily Clips:
Mets’ Second Half of Season:
- 1 key player for each team as second half begins (MLB.com) - For the Mets it is LHP Sean Manaea - Clearly the Mets’ top pitcher in 2024, Manaea didn’t throw a pitch this year until the final game of the first half. As soon as he did, he began reminding everyone why he’s such a crucial part of this team. Manaea’s low-slot, crossfire delivery resulted in seven quick strikeouts in Kansas City. And while he did wind up losing that game, his impact was nonetheless clear. Still, Manaea is pitching with a loose body in his left elbow, which is at least a bit worrisome. He’ll need to prove his durability for a Mets team very much invested in his ace upside

1979 | At Seattle's Kingdome, Pirates outfielder Dave Parker, who cuts down Brian Downing at home with an amazing throw, is named the All-Star Game's MVP when the National League wins its eighth straight Midsummer Classic. In the 7-6 victory over the Junior Circuit, Mets outfielder Lee Mazzilli homers to tie the game in the eighth, and then walks in the ninth to bring in the eventual winning run. |
1993 | Southpaw Frank Tanana becomes the second of only two pitchers, along with Rick Reuschel, to give up a home run to both Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds when the Giants' left fielder takes him deep for the lone run he gives up in the Mets' 3-1 victory at Candlestick Park. In 1976, Hank Aaron, finishing his career with the Brewers, hit a three-run homer, the 748th of his then-record 755 round-trippers, off the left-hander, who was pitching for the Angels at the time. |
