Newsday: "According to the major league baseball schedule, the Mets’ nightmare western road trip ended on Sunday. It appears, however, that no one informed the Mets.  Despite returning to Citi Field after a brutal 10-day, four-city trip, the Mets continued to be haunted by the ghosts of the West: Their starting pitching struggled, they didn’t hit quite enough, and they ended up dropping their fourth game in a row Tuesday — this time, 9-4 to the lowly A’s."

NY Post: Mets' dreadful play continues with ugly loss to lowly A's as skid hits four "During this four-game funk, Jose Quintana, Sean Manaea, Luis Severino and now Blackburn have allowed 19 runs in 18 ²/₃ innings."

NY Post: Mets drop 10-inning bout to Dodgers on day of bad news. “On a day that began with news of Jacob deGrom being shut down for at least two more weeks because of elbow inflammation that had not fully subsided and Javier Baez going on the injured list with back spasms, the Mets ended it by suffering a crushing loss, 6-5 to the Dodgers in 10 innings. After coming alive in the seventh inning to erase a 4-0 deficit, sending the season-high crowd of 38,395 into a frenzy, the Mets (59-56) still came up short in extras.”

ESPN.com: "Will Smith hit a two-run homer to start the 10th inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back after blowing a four-run lead to beat the New York Mets 6-5 Friday night. Smith gave the Dodgers a 6-4 advantage when he hit a full-count sinker from Jeurys Familia (6-3) into the left field seats. Smith’s 16th homer easily cleared the fence and set Los Angeles up for its second win in 14 extra-inning games this year."

ESPN.com: Granderson, Johnson power Mets past Rockies 12-3for sweep. “Curtis Granderson and Kelly Johnson each homered and drove in three runs, powering New York to a 12-3 rout of the Colorado Rockies that completed a four-game sweep Thursday…Syndergaard (7-6) went seven innings and improved to 7-1 at Citi Field, but the 22-year-old rookie labored early. After entering with a 1.57 ERA in his own ballpark, he got tagged for first-inning homers by DJ LeMahieu and Nolan Arenado…After that, Syndergaard switched to off-speed stuff early in the count and shut down Colorado. He did not permit a hit after the second inning and retired 14 of his final 15 batters -- with the only runner erased on a double play.”

NY Post: Thumping Mets lineup takes no mercy in 4-game sweep. “The Mets didn’t trail for long, scoring three times in the bottom of the inning thanks to three straight doubles by Daniel Murphy, Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson…A two-run homer by Granderson in the fourth made it 6-3, and Johnson added his 11th home run an inning later, finally forcing Colorado right-hander Eddie Butler from the game. They scored twice more in the sixth before Juan Lagares’ pinch-hit three-run homer in the eighth made it 12-3.
