Mets' 2022 plan was to have 2 Aces, Scherzer and deGrom, lead them to the World Series. It didn't work out in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series as the Padres jumped all over Max Scherzer with 4 home runs - 1 in the first, another in the 2nd and 2 more in the 5th to give them a 7-0 lead. The seven runs were the most ever allowed by a Mets pitcher in the Post Season.
Except for an Edgardo Escobar homer in the 5th, the Mets couldn't do much against Yu Darvish who went 7 innings scattering 6 hits.
From the Padres 7 Mets 1- Post Game Notes:

Mets pen depth a key cause in a Game 3 2000 NLDS win. Down 2-1 in the 8th, Edgardo Alfonzo's doubled in Lenny Harris to tie it. After that the deep Mets pen which had already thrown 2 scoreless innings, threw 5 more to keep the game tied until the 13th when Benny Agbayani walked it off with a homer.
National Pasttime.com: Benny Agbayani's 13th-inning home run ends the longest LDS game ever played, five hours and 22 minutes. The dramatic round-tripper by the Mets outfielder, who was voted the 36th greatest athlete from Hawaii by Sports Illustrated, gives New York a 3-2 victory and a 2-1 series advantage over the Giants.
