FLUSHING, N.Y., October 15, 2025 – The New York Mets today announced the following additions to the 2026 Major League coaching staff. Kai Correa has been named Bench Coach and Jeff Albert will serve as Director of Major League Hitting.
Correa, 37, spent the last two seasons as part of the Cleveland Guardians Major League coaching staff. In 2024, he served as the team's Field Coordinator and was promoted to Field Coordinator/Director of Defense, Baserunning & Game Strategy prior to the 2025 season. Before joining Cleveland, Correa spent four seasons with the San Francisco Giants where he worked as the Major League Bench Coach and Infield Coach. In 2023, he was named the interim Manager of the Giants for the final three games following the dismissal of Manager Gabe Kapler.
Before joining the Major League coaching ranks, Correa worked in the Cleveland farm system. He spent the 2018 season as the organization's Arizona affiliate Infield Coach and 2019 as the short-season Defensive Coordinator. The Hilo, HI native began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of Puget Sound. He has also spent time at the University of Northern Colorado and with USA Baseball.
Albert, 44, spent the last three seasons as the Director of Hitting Development for the Mets. Prior to joining the organization, Albert served as the Hitting Coach for the St. Louis Cardinals from 2019-2022. Additionally, he spent five years as a Hitting Coach in the Cardinals' farm system from 2008-2012. The Rochester, NY native spent six seasons with the Astros organization including a stint as Houston's second Hitting Coach in 2018. He was the Roving Hitting Instructor in 2013 and the Minor League Hitting Coordinator from 2014-2017.
The former infielder played two seasons of Independent League baseball for the Washington Wild Things in 2003 and the Shreveport Captains in 2007. He played collegiately at Butler University.
