FLUSHING, NY, December 22, 2025 – The New York Mets today announced that the team has acquired RHP Yordan Rodriguez from the Athletics in exchange for INF Jeff McNeil and cash considerations.
"I want to thank Jeff for his time and contributions to the organization," said President of Baseball Operations David Stearns. "He was drafted by the team and grew up in our system. I wish Jeff and his family success and good luck going forward. We are excited to bring Yordan into our system. He is a young right-hander with a promising future."
Rodriguez, 17, signed as a non-drafted free agent with the Athletics in January of 2025. He appeared in eight games (one start) for the DSL Athletics, going 2-0 with a 2.93 ERA (5 ER/15.1 IP), eight walks and 20 strikeouts.
McNeil, 33, played in parts of eight seasons with the Mets, posting a .284/.351/.428 slashline with 80 home runs and 367 RBI. The left-handed hitter was selected as an All-Star in 2019 and again in 2022. He won the Major League batting title after hitting .326 in 2022. McNeil was originally selected in the 12th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Long Beach State.
