PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (April 26, 2026) – The St. Lucie Mets snapped a three-game losing skid with an impressive 12-2 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at Clover Park. The Cardinals won the series 4-2.

The Mets started off with a bang, as Simon Juan hit an inside-the-park three-run homer in the second inning off Cardinals starter Ethan Young to put the Mets up 3-0.

Randy Guzman hit a two-run homer out of the park to left field against Young in the third inning to help the Mets build a 5-0 lead. Guzman had a monster day, going 3 for 4 with the homer, two doubles, a walk, two RBI and three runs scored.

Mets pitching, which had given up 50 runs over the first five games of the series, was much improved on Sunday. Starter Nicolas Carreno twirled 4.0 shutout innings, giving up just one hit. Carreno walked two and struck out five. Over 8.0 total innings pitched in the series, Carreno struck out 10 and gave up just one run.

Former big leaguer Luke Jackson, signed by the Mets earlier this month, pitched the fifth inning. He was charged with one unearned run.

19-year-old Emilio Obispo made his stateside debut on the mound in the sixth inning and pitched the remainder of the game. He was credited with the win after tossing 4.0 innings and giving up one run on two hits. Obispo walked one and struck out four.

Meanwhile the Met offense continued to pile on. Sam Robertson hit a run-scoring single in the fourth inning and JT Benson wacked a two-run double with the bases loaded in the sixth inning as the Mets increased their lead to 9-2.

Catcher Francisco Toledo belted a three-run homer to right field in the eighth inning to make it 12-2.

The Mets offense churned out 14 hits and all nine batters in the lineup recorded a hit. Branny De Oleo went 3 for 4 from the ninth spot in the order. Robertson was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI.

The Mets (10-11) are off on Monday and Tuesday. They return to action on Wednesday when they play a doubleheader at the Tampa Tarpons. First pitch in game 1 on Wednesday is 4:00 p.m. at Steinbrenner Field.
