Juan Soto (1-2, 2 BB): Has reached base in 13 straight games to open the season...Has reached base multiple times in seven of his 13 games this season...Has a .418 OBP this season.

Kodai Senga (2.2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, K, HR, HBP): Has allowed 17 runs, 16 earned across 8.1 innings over his last three starts.

Carl Edwards Jr. (3.1 IP, 3 BB, 5 K): Threw 3.1 hitless and scoreless innings in his season debut.

Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets’ pitching held the Rockies to six runs in the doubleheader. The Mets’ offense held themselves to one run in 18 innings, leading to getting swept by the Rockies, 3-1 and 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Citi Field. It’s hard to imagine how things could get much worse."

Peter Sblendorio NY Daily News: "A nightmarish start to the season reached another low Sunday as the Mets (9-19) dropped both games of the single-admission doubleheader, resulting in a three-game sweep against the cellar-dwelling Rockies (13-16). The Mets totaled one run and 10 hits over 18 innings Sunday. They finished a combined 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base."

Mike Puma NY Post: Mets’ bats flatline in ugly loss to Rockies in Game 1 of doubleheader. "The Mets, who managed only four hits, took a shot at a late rally, but it fizzled in the eighth. After Juan Soto walked to load the bases with one out, Luis Robert Jr. popped out and Mark Vientos struck out, eliciting boos from the crowd."

Mike Puma NY Post: Mets hit rock bottom after getting swept by hapless Rockies as offense, Kodai Senga flop. "Any optimism the Mets carried into the weekend after snapping a 12-game losing streak and winning two straight (before losing Friday) was completely siphoned over six hours on Sunday...The three-game series sweep by Colorado was complete with the Mets’ 3-0 loss in the nightcap...The Mets are last in MLB, averaging 3.17 runs per game."

David Lennon Newsday: "What followed [in game 2] was more of the usual ugliness, courtesy of a newly shuffled cast headlined by the predictably non-competitive Kodai Senga, who recorded eight outs (and gave up three runs) before Mendoza practically sprinted from the dugout to retrieve him. That could be the end of Senga for a while, as Mendoza said later they’d have to discuss when (or where) he pitches next."

Anthony DiComo Mets.com: "In many ways, the Mets’ sweep at the hands of the Rockies this weekend was more disheartening than the 12-game losing streak that preceded it. The streak was one thing -- a cavalcade of poor play, exacerbated by bad luck, that sunk the Mets down the standings but did not drive a wooden stake through the heart of their season. Losing three in a row to the perennially bottom-dwelling Rockies was something altogether different, proving that their issues are very much for real."

Greg Prince Faith and Fear in Flushing: "Me, I’ll generally watch whoever the Mets suit up. But I’d really prefer not to watch so many who are wearing their uniform at present."

Ben Dickson Newsday: Mets' Carson Benge fights to adjust to major leagues. "The initial offensive struggles for Benge – who entered the season as the Mets’ No. 2 prospect and the 16th-best prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com – certainly aren’t unique to him. And one of Benge’s first mentors in professional baseball, Mets outfield and first base coach Gilbert Gomez, said he has been “great” handling everything that comes with the adjustment."

2004

At Dodger Stadium, Mike Piazza ties Carlton Fisk for the most career homers by a catcher as he hits Hideo Nomo's sixth-inning pitch into the stands for his 351st round-tripper as a backstop. The homer, which was his 362nd overall, moves the Mets' star past Yankees' Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio on the all-time list.

2010

David Wright, with an RBI single to right field off Ramon Troncoso in the fifth inning of New York's 10-5 victory over L.A. at Citi Field, becomes the eighth and quickest player to accumulate 1,000 hits in a Mets uniform. The 27 year-old third baseman, who surpasses Mike Piazza's mark of 935 games to reach the milestone, accomplishes the feat in his 868th career contest with the club.

2010

The suddenly streaking Mets win their sixth consecutive game with a doubleheader sweep of the Dodgers, 4-0 and 10-5. The victories mark the first time since August 28, 1971 that the club has taken both ends of a twin bill from L.A.

2012

Mets left fielder Scott Hairston became the tenth player in franchise history to hit for the cycle with his sixth inning double, plating Rueben Tejada and David Wright. The outfielder's four hits, which drive in four runs, aren't enough when Colorado routs New York, scoring 11 times in the fifth, in the Coors Field's contest, 18-9.

2010: The Mets sweep the Dodgers in a doubleheader, 4 - 0 and 10 - 5, to extend their winning streak to 6 games and to record their 8th win in their last 9 games. Jason Bay hits his first home run as a Met in support of Johan Santana's pitching in the opener, while David Wright drives in four runs in the nitecap.

2012 The Rockies reverse a 6 - 2 deficit with an 11-run 5th-inning outburst against the Mets, then pull out with an 18 - 9 win at Coors FieldEric Young starts the ball rolling by beating P Chris Schwinden's throw on a comebacker to the mound; 3 walks, 7 hits, 4 errors and a hit batsman later, the Rockies are cruising to an easy win; Carlos Gonzalez drives in 5 runs during the frame, then Ramon Hernandez adds a grand slam in the 7th. For the Mets, Scott Hairston hits for the cycle in a losing cause, while the two teams combine for 36 hits in the slugfest.
