CONEY ISLAND, BROOKLYN, N.Y. (August 2, 2026) — RHP Clay Holmes tossed 5.1 innings to earn the victory in his third Major League rehab start, while 3B Andy Ibáñez collected three hits, including a two-run home run, as the Brooklyn Cyclones edged the Winston-Salem Dash, 6-5, in front of 3,224 fans on Sunday afternoon at Maimonides Park.
Holmes (1-0) turned in his longest rehab outing to date, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits over 5.1 innings. The 33-year-old did not issue a walk and struck out three to earn the win.

After Holmes worked a scoreless top of the first, Brooklyn (17-18, 42-58) gave him an early lead in the bottom half.
DH Jacob Reimer singled to left with one out and advanced to third on Ibáñez’s base hit to right. Two batters later, CF Trey Snyder smashed a two-run single to center, giving the Cyclones a 2-0 advantage.

Winston-Salem (18-18, 56-46) cut the deficit to one in the third on an RBI infield single by SS Javier Mogollon, but Brooklyn answered immediately.
Reimer reached after being hit by a pitch with one out before Ibáñez launched a two-run home run over the left-field fence. The 33-year-old’s first homer of his rehab assignment extended the lead to 4-1.

On the very next pitch, LF Randy Guzmán obliterated a solo home run to left-center. His first High-A home run—and 13th overall this season—gave Brooklyn a 5-1 cushion.

Both sides traded runs in the fourth.
The Dash picked up a run on 1B Wes Kath‘s RBI double off the left-field wall, but the Cyclones answered in the bottom half when 2B Yonatan Henríquez drove in a run with a single to center, restoring Brooklyn’s four-run cushion at 6-2.
The Dash continued to chip away in the middle innings.
LF Derek Cerda led off the fifth with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error, and scored on Mogollon’s sacrifice fly to make it 6-3.
In the sixth, RF George Wolkow singled and stole second before Kath delivered another RBI double off the left-field wall to trim the deficit to 6-4. A dropped third strike followed by a fielding error allowed another runner to reach, and Cerda pulled Winston-Salem a run closer with an RBI ground out, cutting Brooklyn’s lead to 6-5.
The Dash threatened to tie the game later in the inning after a hit batter loaded the bases, but RHP Hunter Hodges struck out the next hitter swinging to preserve the one-run lead.
RHP Austin Warren needed just nine pitches to retire the side in order in the seventh before turning the game over to LHP Daviel Hurtado.
The 21-year-old worked around a single and a walk in the eighth, then returned for the ninth. After issuing a leadoff walk and watching the tying run advance to second on a groundout, the left-hander struck out the final two batters swinging to seal Brooklyn’s 6-5 victory.
Hurtado earned the first save of his professional career with 2.0 scoreless innings. The Cuban native allowed one hit, walked two, and struck out three.

LHP Dylan Carmouche (1-1) suffered the loss in his second start of the week for the Dash. The 25-year-old permitted six runs on six hits in 4.0 innings, walking two and striking out two.
Following Monday’s league-wide off day, the Cyclones will travel to Wilmington to open a six-game series against the Blue Rocks, the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Neither team has announced a probable starter for Tuesday’s opener. First pitch from Frawley Stadium is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. ET.
