FLUSHING, N.Y., August 3, 2026 - The New York Mets have announced that they have acquired RHP Gabe Davis and RHP Zach Franklin from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for RHP Huascar Brazobán. Davis, 22, was drafted in the fifth round in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft out of Oklahoma State where he was teammates with Carson Benge and Nolan McLean. The 6-9, 235-pounder had 70 strikeouts in 62.0 innings in 18 starts in his first season of professional baseball between Double-A Birmingham and High-A Winston-Salem. Overall, Davis was 0-5 with a 5.81 ERA (40 ER/62.0 IP) in those 18 starts.
Franklin, 27, went 2-2 with five saves and a 3.46 ERA (22 ER/45.1 IP) in 33 games, one start with Triple-A Charlotte this year. The Marion, NC native had 60 strikeouts and 14 walks and a 1.13 WHIP over those 45.1 innings. The 6-1, 198-pounder is 12-9 with 22 saves and a 3.46 ERA (63 ER/163.2 IP) in 129 games during his four-year minor league career.
Brazobán, 36, was 5-2 with a 2.56 ERA (15 ER/52.2 IP) in 46 games with the Mets this year. He appeared in 117 games with the Mets over three seasons, going 10-5 and two saves with a 3.42 ERA (52 ER/136.2 IP), 64 walks and 123 strikeouts.
