St. Lucie Mets Game Recap: Tortugas Roll to 13-4 Win Over St-L Mets, Take 3-2 Series Lead

Zayas and De Oleo homer in loss

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 29, 2026) - The Daytona Tortugas coasted to a 13-4 win over the St. Lucie Mets at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Saturday night. The Tortugas took a 3-2 series lead with the victory.

Daytona scored two runs in each of its first three innings at the plate, then blew the game open with a five-run fourth.

The Mets used five pitchers to get through the first four innings. They then used position players Reed Stallman (the DH) and Jake Ogden to pitch the final four innings. The Stallman-Ogden duo gave up just two runs. Stallman pitched 2.0 scoreless innings with just two hits. Ogden pitched a perfect seventh inning.

The Tortugas finally got to Odgen with four straight one-out hits and two runs in the eighth before Ogden got the final two outs on a fly ball and grounder.

Julio Zayas went 3 for 4 with a homer and two singles in the loss. The solo homer by Zayas in the sixth inning was his 10th of the year.

Branny De Oleo went 2 for 3 with a homer, single and walk. De Oleo has homered in back-to-back games. He is up to nine long balls on the season.

The Tortugas jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Vai Levu hit a two-run homer off Mets starter Jose Lopez. Lopez departed with the trainer with one out in the first inning.

De Oleo’s two-run homer off Daytona starter Ty Horn tied the game 2-2 in the second inning.

Sherman Johnson hit a two-out, two-run single against Jose Guevara in the bottom of the second inning to put the Tortugas ahead 4-2. They led the rest of the game.

Guevara took the loss. He gave up two runs on two hits over 1.1 innings.

The Mets (20-38, 53-71) and Tortugas (36-22, 57-67) play the finale of their six-game series at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
