BROOKLYN, N.Y. - On the final day of the 2026 regular season, the Cyclones were topped by the Keys, 6-5, at Maimonides Park. Brooklyn once trailed 6-0 in the ballgame and scored five unanswered runs, but came up just short on the season’s final day.
Despite the defeat, CF Aidan Smith enjoyed a three-hit performance, while driving in a pair and scoring a run.

RF Yonatan HenrÃquez and 2B Colin Houck also put together multi-hit games, both finishing with two hits.
Four of six Brooklyn pitchers offered up scoreless outings as part of Brooklyn’s bullpen day, including RHP Calvin Ziegler, who made his first start since April 14, 2024.
After trading zeroes in the 1st, the Keys bats exploded in the 2nd inning. With LHP Luis R. Rodriguez on, 2B Jaiden Lo Re got things started with a single. He’d advance to 2nd on a sac bunt, before four consecutive walks, the last two of which, came with the bases loaded.
With Frederick leading 2-0, RHP Rafi Vazquez came on to replace Rodriguez. SS D.J. Layton stayed hot after a five-hit day on Saturday with a two-run double to push the lead to 4-0. Then, CF Enddy Azocar delivered the final blow of the frame - a two-run single to put Frederick firmly in front.
Still, the Brooklyn bats battled for the remainder of the contest. In the 3rd, CF Aiden Smith roped a two-run single to right field and ended all the way up at 3rd on a misplay in the outfield.
In the 4th, the ‘Clones put up a pair for a second straight inning, thanks to a two-run single from C Alejandro UrÃas to cut the deficit to 6-4. The single marked UrÃas’s fifth hit in just his third game with Brooklyn. The backstop collected six RBI in three games to end his campaign.
In the 5th, the ‘Clones chipped away some more. LF Trey Snyder concluded his season with an RBI single to shave the deficit to one.
Perhaps Brooklyn’s best chance to pull even came in the 8th. With men on 1st and 2nd and only one out, DH Ronald Hernandez was picked off 2nd base, before a strikeout ended the frame.
Still, the teams would trade zeroes the rest of the way as the Keys clinged on for a 6-5 win to wrap up the campaign. RHP Jack Crowder earned the save for Frederick, striking out the side in the 9th inning to finish off Frederick’s 83rd win of the season.
The Cyclones open up the 2026 season on Friday, April 2, 2027 on the road against the Frederick Keys. Brooklyn opens up its home slate next year on Tuesday, April 6 against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.
