Brian Joura Mets360: "For the first time since 2024, the Mets won a game they trailed after eight innings. Down 5-1 at one point, they tied the game with a 3-run homer by Tyrone Taylor in the bottom of the ninth and then won the game on a chop over the pitcher’s head in the 10th, edging the Yankees, 7-6, Sunday afternoon at Citi Field."

Anthony DiComo Mets.com: "From Alonso’s blast in the ’24 Wild Card Series until Sunday, the Mets had lost 96 consecutive games when trailing after eight, including the postseason. And for the first eight innings Sunday, they didn’t exactly look like a team primed to buck that trend. Midway through the afternoon, Bo Bichette dropped a popup to pour gasoline on what became a four-run Yankees rally in the sixth."

NY Post: "Down to their final out, Tyrone Taylor tied the game for the Mets with a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth off closer David Bednar. And in the 10th, after Devin Williams got Austin Wells to hit into an inning-ending double play with runners on the corners to keep the game knotted, Carson Benge won it with a chopper up the middle that scored Marcus Semien from third."

NY Daily News: "The victory capped an emotional weekend for the Mets, who rebounded from a 5-2 defeat in Friday night’s Subway Series opener — a game in which they lost steady starter Clay Holmes to a broken leg — to win the final two games against the Yankees. After a nightmarish April, the Mets (20-26) are 10-5 in May and have won four of their last five series. Sunday’s victory completed a 5-1 homestand."

David Lennon Newsday: "There’s doing things the hard way, and then there’s doing things the Mets’ way, an age-old practice of defying odds, flipping narratives and pulling off the improbable — sometimes happily, but mostly ending in disappointment. So if there’s any reason to believe the 2026 Mets can turn this season around, look to the franchise’s twisted history and its vexing habit of reversing expectations."

From the Mets 7 Yankees 6 Post Game Notes:

Marcus Semien (2-5, 2B, RBI, 2 R): Tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI double in the fourth inning...Over 15 games in May, he is batting .250 (14-56) with four extra-base hits (2 2B, 2 HR).

Mark Vientos (2-5, R): Singled in both the fourth and fifth innings...Marks his eighth multi-hit game of the season...He has hit safely in seven of his last nine games and he is batting .270 (10-37).

Luis Torrens (1-2, 2B, 2 RBI): Cut the Mets deficit to 5-3 with a two-run pinch-hit double in the sixth inning...Was his fifth double of the season...Is 2-4 with two doubles and four RBI as a pinch-hitter this season.

Devin Williams (1.0 IP, BB, K): Earned his third win of the season after working a scoreless 10th inning...His three wins as a reliever are tied for the eighth-most in the majors and the fourth-most in the NL...Each of his last eight appearances have been scoreless dating back to April 26 (8.2 IP)
