Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets threw out three runners at the plate in the first two innings, the no-name relievers came up big again and the offense did just enough to earn a 2-1 victory over the Padres Monday night at Citi Field. The Mets have now won four games in a row, with the last three being one-run decisions."
NY Post: "Benge nailed Jake Cronenworth at the plate on Ty France’s one-out single in the first. The ensuing batter, Jackson Merrill, singled in front of Benge, who unleashed another gem and threw out Manny Machado at the plate to conclude the inning."
NY Daily News: "At one point, the Padres put seven consecutive men on base without scoring. They made four outs at home plate within the first two innings, with the other coming on a bases-loaded comebacker to McLean for the first out in the top of the second...McLean settled in from there, tossing four more scoreless innings. All told, the right-hander allowed one run in six innings on six hits, four walks and three strikeouts."
AP Sports: "Bo Bichette had an RBI single in the first, Luis Robert Jr. added a sacrifice fly and New York cooled off the Padres, who began the night tied with Philadelphia for the final two National League playoff spots."
